Di(2-ethylhexyl) terephthalate (DOTP)

Di(2-ethylhexyl) terephthalate (DOTP), molecular formula: C24H38O4, is an excellent primary plasticizer used for polyvinyl chloride (PVC) plastics. Compared with the commonly used dioctyl phthalate (DOP), it offers advantages such as heat resistance, cold resistance, low volatility, resistance to extraction, good flexibility, and excellent electrical insulation properties. It demonstrates outstanding durability, soap water resistance, and low-temperature flexibility in products. Due to its low volatility, DOTP fully meets the temperature resistance requirements for wires and cables, making it widely applicable in 70°C-resistant cable compounds (according to the International Electrotechnical Commission IEC standard) and various other PVC soft products. In addition to its extensive use in cable compounds and as a plasticizer for PVC, DOTP can also be employed in the production of artificial leather films. Furthermore, it exhibits excellent compatibility and can serve as a plasticizer for acrylonitrile derivatives, polyvinyl butyral, nitrocellulose, and others. It is also used as a plasticizer for synthetic rubber, a coating additive, a lubricant for precision instruments, a lubricant additive, and as a softening agent for paper.
